what if this is the only valentine i get this year?? can’t decided if i would be sad, or pleased, since it’s awfully pretty, if not exactly a nice sentiment.
made by breadandbutter.

Richard Barnes took these photos for a series he calls “Murmur.” Beautiful title, really evocotive… not what i would have jumped to given the subject matter, but it really seems to fit. I want to do a series of drawings or prints based on bird groups (swarms?) like this.

i’m sorry i’ve been slacking a bit this week. i’ll make it up to you.
on a side note, wouldn’t it be nice if whenever someone wanted to apologize, instead of buying flowers or a card, they would just get you a whole bunch of balloons? Maybe I am the only one that would prefer this.
photos found here.

if you haven’t been able to tell from the times we’ve talked on the phone this week, i’ve been feeling very angsty and frustrated about making art lately. this print, made by groudwork on Etsy, is helping me keep it together.
Today has been a bummer, overall. I suddenly got very caught up in the, “what am i doing in life??” questions, agonizing over the most minute decisions. i listened to the Who Am I? episode of Radiolab (from almost four years ago!), and now I feel a little better. Also, painted my nails pink. That seems to have helped almost as much. It’s hard to be depressed with dayglo nails.

I don’t think Ray Fenwick will ever stop being the funniest, most clever guy in the universe. He’s in my top 4 biggest art crushes.

I’ll be cross posting this on my beard blog, but I thought you would enjoy them as well. Mimi Kirchner makes these amazing dolls, using old victorian style fabrics, which she dyes to make them look like tattooed bodies! Genius.
busy body.

i’ve been trying to keep busy while i wait for move in day. here are a couple little drawings i made this week. i think i may try to sell them in a new etsy shop… we’ll see.

the face from my last post reminds me of Matthew Feyld’s people… they have too much head for too small features, which i love.
hooray!

Happy birthday! My present to you: Polaroid is saved! Woo hoo! Now I can stop saving all my money to buy out all the film from Pro Photo Supply!
polaroids by jimbus.
i got your box full of goodies today! thank you thank you. i love the cds, you and i are on the same page in terms of music lately. can’t get that lykke li song out of my head. swedish pop is rapidly taking over my top 25 most played on itunes… plus, the creepy girls in the video are haunting my dreams.

while i’m not so sure that i enjoy most of his other work, stefan bruggeman really nailed my attitude towards “stuff” this week. i have a love/hate relationship with moving, since it seems to magnify the rediculousness of all the random crap i own.
Make it happen.

when i see projects like this, i am completely inspired. using such simple materials to make a statement makes me feel like i have no excuse not to make art every single day.
